Scope of AEPSE2007

The 6th Asian-European International Conference on Plasma Surface Engineering (AEPSE 2007) will be held from Monday, September 24 to Friday, September 28, 2007, at "Umi no Mieru Hotel" in Yasuragi-Ioujima (Resort Island), in Nagasaki city, Japan. The conference is organized and sponsored by Japanese Association for Surface Technology, Japanese Association for Plasma Technology, Division of Plasma Electronics, Japanese Society of Applied Physics, 153rd Committee of Plasma Material Science, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, The Japan Society of Plasma Science and Nuclear Fusion Research, Japanese Materials Research Society, Nagasaki University, Nagasaki International Convention Bureau and the European Joint Committee on Plasma and Ion Surface Engineering. Rapid progress on coatings and films and functional surface treatments by utilizing plasma and energetic beam has been made in research and development for various industrial applications in recent years. It is the aim of the AEPSE conference to provide an open forum to discuss the state of the art and a perspective of scientific and technological achievement in plasma generation, diagnostics, films and coating materials, advanced plasma processing, functional surface treatment and applications. In addition to the conference, the industrial plasma technology exhibition will be organized during the conference. The industry exhibition will cover broad industrial sectors, and can be of general interest for researchers in academia and industry. The perspective of plasma technology development and application for next generation nano-technology, information and telecommunication technology, bio-technology, energy and environmental technology will also be addressed both in the conference and in the exhibition.

Conference Topics

Applications of plasma and ion beam techniques in surface engineering and their fundamentals (tentative)

Contributed papers from universities, institutes and especially from industry are welcome. Recent developments and progress in the above listed areas will be surveyed by invited talks. In addition the individual sessions will be introduced by a number of keynote speakers

Venue

The location of the 6th International Conference on Plasma Surface Engineering in Asia is "Umi no Mieru Hotel"in Yasuragi-Ioujima at Nagasaki."Ioujima" means "Io island". Off the coast of Nagasaki City and just outside Nagasaki Bay is a beautiful resort island that you can reach via ferries from Nagasaki Port Terminal (Ohato peer). It takes about 20 minutes by ferries that shuttle the island and the Nagasaki Port terminal every 90 minutes, 11 times a day. The island has gorgeous beaches, excellent resort hotels and numerous other attractions that may be of interest to tourists, such as the Iojima lighthouse. Round trip tickets on the ferry are about 1000 Japanese Yen. Of course, Nagasaki City is easy to access by bus from Nagasaki International Airport or Fukuoka International Airport Airport.
